This policy explains what personal data BerrySense collects when you use this shop, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The data controller is BerrySense, contactable at info@berrysense.co.uk.
What we collect and why
When you place an order we collect:
- your name, email address, and optional phone number — to confirm your order, send delivery updates, and contact you if something goes wrong;
- your delivery address — to calculate delivery prices and dispatch your order;
- your order history — to fulfil the contract, handle returns and refunds, and meet our accounting obligations.
The legal basis for this processing is performance of a contract, and legal obligation for accounting records. We do not use your data for marketing, we do not send newsletters, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Payments
Card payments are processed by SumUp on SumUp's own checkout page. Your card details are entered directly with SumUp and never reach our servers. SumUp processes your payment data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
Who we share data with
- SumUp — payment processing.
- Royal Mail — your name, address, and contact details, to deliver your parcel and send delivery notifications.
- SnapAddress — when address search is enabled, the postcode you enter is used to find matching delivery addresses. You can also enter your address manually.
- Render — our hosting provider, which stores our database.
- An email delivery provider — to send you transactional order emails (confirmation, dispatch, refund).
How long we keep data
Order records are kept for six years to meet UK accounting and tax requirements. If you ask us to, we will delete or anonymise personal data that we are not legally required to keep.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask for deletion where we have no legal duty to keep it, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email info@berrysense.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
